THE PAGAN (1929) RARE SILENT ROMANTIC DRAMA ON DVD – INCLUDES COVER ART

Synopsis:
Directed by W.S. Van Dyke (who later directed "The Thin Man"), "The Pagan" is a lush, atmospheric South Seas romance starring the legendary Ramon Novarro. Novarro plays a carefree, music-loving native living on a tropical island whose life is changed when he falls for the beautiful ward of a strict, hypocritical Christian trader (Donald Crisp). The film is a poignant exploration of the clash between natural island life and the rigid constraints of Western civilization. Though a silent film, it features a synchronized score and Novarro’s famous rendition of the song "Pagan Love Song," which became a massive hit of the era.

Cast:
Ramon Novarro, Dorothy Janis, Donald Crisp, and Renée Adorée.
