1. HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959)

An eccentric millionaire invites five strangers to spend the night inside a supposedly haunted mansion. Anyone who remains until morning will receive $10,000—but locked doors, ghostly apparitions and murder may prevent the guests from surviving long enough to collect.

Vincent Price stars in this wonderfully atmospheric combination of haunted-house horror, murder mystery and macabre entertainment.

2. THE SCREAMING SKULL (1958)

A newly married woman moves into her husband’s secluded estate, where she becomes haunted by the memory—and possibly the remains—of his deceased first wife.

A mysterious skull begins appearing throughout the house, threatening to drive her into madness. Is something supernatural haunting the estate, or is someone deliberately trying to frighten her?

3. NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR (1922)

A young estate agent travels to the remote castle of Count Orlok, unaware that his mysterious host is a terrifying vampire. When Orlok journeys to the agent’s hometown, death and plague follow in his wake.

Directed by F. W. Murnau and featuring Max Schreck’s unforgettable performance as Count Orlok, this silent masterpiece remains one of cinema’s earliest and most frightening vampire films.

4. THE VAMPIRE BAT (1933)

A quiet European village is gripped by fear when several residents are discovered dead and apparently drained of blood. The frightened villagers become convinced that a vampire is responsible.

Suspicion falls upon a strange local man with an unusual fascination for bats, but the investigation uncovers a more calculated and horrifying explanation behind the mysterious deaths.

6. THE MONSTER MAKER (1944)

A deranged scientist deliberately infects his victims with a disfiguring disease and uses the promise of a cure to control them.

His experiments become increasingly dangerous as he attempts to force his way into a family’s fortune. J. Carrol Naish stars as the calculating doctor in this tale of medical horror, blackmail and scientific madness.

7. CARNIVAL OF SOULS (1962)

After surviving a terrible automobile accident, a young woman accepts a new job as a church organist in a distant town.

She soon becomes fascinated by an abandoned carnival pavilion and haunted by the pale figure of a mysterious stranger. As reality begins slipping away, she feels herself being drawn toward a terrifying supernatural gathering.

8. TORMENTED (1960)

A jazz pianist allows his former lover to fall to her death from an island lighthouse. As he prepares to marry another woman, the dead woman’s ghost returns to torment him and expose his terrible secret.

Strange footprints, ghostly voices and horrifying apparitions threaten to destroy his wedding plans—and possibly his sanity.

10. KING OF THE ZOMBIES (1941)

After their airplane crashes near a remote Caribbean island, three travelers seek shelter inside the mansion of a mysterious doctor.

11. THE LAST MAN ON EARTH (1964)

A worldwide plague transforms humanity into nocturnal, vampire-like creatures. Believing himself to be the final uninfected survivor, Dr. Robert Morgan spends his days hunting the creatures and his nights defending his home.

Vincent Price stars in this bleak and atmospheric adaptation of Richard Matheson’s influential novel I Am Legend.

12. DEMENTIA 13 (1963)

A calculating woman visits her late husband’s wealthy family at their isolated Irish estate, hoping to secure part of the family inheritance.

Her plans are interrupted by an axe murderer, a haunted pond and a disturbing family secret surrounding the death of a young girl. Written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, this Gothic thriller combines mystery, madness and brutal murder.
