Public Domain & Rights Statement

PastTimeTV, operated by SilverScreen Shop Media Co., sells physical media containing motion pictures and television programs that are in the public domain in the United States, or that we are otherwise authorized to duplicate and distribute.

We take copyright seriously. This page explains how we determine what we sell and how to contact us if you believe a title has been listed in error.

How We Determine Public Domain Status

Before a title is added to our catalog, we verify its United States copyright status using publicly available records, including:

  • United States Copyright Office records and the Catalog of Copyright Entries.

  • Copyright renewal records for works first published between 1929 and 1963, which required renewal in their 28th year to remain protected.

  • Copyright notice requirements applicable to works published before 1978.

  • Public domain designations published by recognized archives and libraries, including the Library of Congress and the Internet Archive.

Works first published in the United States in 1930 or earlier are in the public domain by term. Works first published from 1931 onward are listed only where records show the copyright was not renewed, was published without required notice, or has otherwise expired.

We do not list a title unless we have a documented basis for doing so.

What Public Domain Means

A work in the public domain is no longer protected by copyright. It may be freely copied, distributed, and sold by anyone. No permission or royalty payment is required.

Public domain status applies to the underlying work. Later restorations, re-scores, added subtitles, colorizations, new packaging designs, and remastered editions may carry their own separate copyrights held by other parties. We do not reproduce those elements.

Source Materials

Our discs are produced from public domain source elements, including archival prints and transfers that have been placed in the public domain or released without restriction by their holders.

Picture and sound quality reflects the age and surviving condition of the source material. We do not represent our editions as official studio releases, licensed reissues, or restored editions produced by any rights holder or distributor.

What We Do Not Sell

  • Copies of commercially released DVDs, Blu-ray discs, or streaming titles.

  • Duplicates of restored or remastered editions produced by studios or licensed distributors.

  • Reproductions of studio packaging, cover artwork, logos, or menu designs.

  • Any title we cannot document as public domain or otherwise authorized.

All packaging artwork and product photography on this site is original work created by SilverScreen Shop Media Co. or assembled from public domain elements.

Trademarks and Names

Film titles, series titles, and the names of performers, directors, and studios appear on this site for the sole purpose of identifying the contents of the media offered for sale. Their use is descriptive. It does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from any studio, network, estate, or rights holder.

All trademarks referenced remain the property of their respective owners.

Format Disclosure

Our discs are manufactured on demand and supplied on recordable DVD-R media. They are region free and encoded in NTSC format. They are not pressed retail discs and are not official studio products. This is disclosed on every product page.

Copyright Concerns and Takedown Requests

If you are a copyright owner, or an agent authorized to act on behalf of one, and you believe a title in our catalog infringes your rights, contact us and we will remove the listing while we review the claim.

Send your notice to support@pasttimetv.com with the subject line "Copyright Notice" and include:

  • Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.

  • Identification of the work you believe is infringed.

  • The specific product page URL or product title on our site.

  • A statement of your good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

  • Your physical or electronic signature.

We respond to properly submitted notices within two business days. Listings subject to a good faith claim are removed from sale pending review.
