Set in 1697, British officers Richard Dale and Alan Duncan are assigned to investigate the notorious Captain William Kidd and gather evidence that could convict him of piracy. Disguised as ordinary sailors, the two men join Kidd's crew—but soon discover that the legendary captain may not be the ruthless outlaw they were led to believe.

Their dangerous mission takes them across the high seas and into a world of rival pirates, mutiny, enemy attacks, imprisonment and hidden treasure as forces determined to destroy Captain Kidd close in from every direction.
