Unknown World (1951) is a bold early science-fiction adventure directed by Terry O. Morse. In a time of atomic fear, a group of scientists create a powerful drilling machine, the Cyclotram, and journey deep into the Earth seeking a subterranean refuge for humanity in case of nuclear destruction.
Produced by Irving A. Block and starring Bruce Kellogg and Marilyn Nash, the film explores human survival and scientific obsession long before Journey to the Center of the Earth. A pioneering entry in 1950s “atomic age” sci-fi, it captures the imagination and existential dread of its era.
