Story Summary

Burt Reynolds stars as John Hawk, a tough and determined Iroquois police lieutenant working as a special investigator for the New York City District Attorney’s office. Patrolling the city’s nighttime streets, Hawk confronts murderers, organized criminals, corrupt officials and suspects who believe they are beyond the reach of the law.

Hawk’s direct methods and sharp instincts make him an effective detective, but his heritage also exposes him to prejudice from criminals, witnesses and fellow professionals. Blending gritty police action with atmospheric New York locations, Hawk offers a distinctive look at urban crime drama during the 1960s.
